Top 5 Most Requested Games for Xbox One Backwards Compatibility
In this past E3 it was announced that the Xbox One will have limited backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 games. Microsoft created a special emulator that will play Xbox 360 titles on the Xbox One. Yet, there is one big catch with this. The original publisher or developer must give permission for the game to be put on the list of approved titles. If the game’s publisher or developer fails to approve, the Xbox 360 game will not be playable on the Xbox One. Microsoft has stated they are actively reaching out to publishers and developers to see if their past titles can get approval.
One of the methods Xbox is using to see which games to ask about first, is a poll they’ve created. You can find the poll HERE. This poll is a simple voting system. The more votes a game gets, the more likely Xbox is to ask that publisher or developer to approve for backwards compatibility. Yet, in the end it is still up to the publisher or developer to allow approval.
So, what are the top games requested for approval?
Here are the top 5:
Call of Duty: Black Ops II – 77,785 Votes
Red Dead Redemption – 75,691 Votes
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – 70,698 Votes
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 62,992 Votes
Halo: Reach – 61,802
I will provide a link in the story’s source that will take you to the voting area. Remember, this only lets Xbox know which games to ask about. It doesn’t mean the publisher or developer of the game will give permission.
So, what game would you like to see get the backwards compatibility treatment? Leave it in the comments!
