It was recently revealed that the PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 versions of Black Ops 3 will not contain a single-player campaign. Only the multi-player component, and zombies modes. Yet, to make up for the loss of campaign it was announced that the game will be bundled with Black Ops 1. The game will be $49.99 instead of $59.99 on the current gen, and PC versions of the game. So, why is the campaign being dropped?
The campaign is too “ambitious” for the old consoles to handle, according to Activision. Yes, you read that right. No campaign for the older generation systems because it is just too much for the older systems to handle.
It is stated by Activision that “The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.”
Black Ops 3 on PS3 and Xbox 360 is being developed by Beenox and Mercenary Technology; the current-generation versions are being made in-house at Treyarch. So, this could simply be a cost cutting measure. Plus, it is a definite sign that the Call of Duty series is now focused on the current gen, and PC versions. So, do you think getting a copy of Black Ops 1 is worth losing the campaign? Let me know in the comments!
