Nintendo Unveils First Smartphone Game Called Miitomo

Nintendo announced during a press conference today that their very first, of five, smartphone games slated to release in 2016. The first game is called “Miitomo” and will be available on iPhone, and Android devices in March of 2016. Miitomo will be very similar to “Street Pass” which is very popular on the 3DS system. You create a Mii, and when you pass another person your Miis meet. You essentially collect friends. You use the Miis you collect to play a variety of simple games.

The game Miitomo will be an expanded version of that concept. What exactly is in the game is a bit of a mystery, but Nintendo has promised that more details will be revealed in early 2016. One thing that is for certain, the game will be free-to-play with in-app purchases.

The another announcement is the introduction of the “Nintendo Account.” This account will be universal, and connect all your Nintendo related applications together under one name. How expansive this is has not been shared. Yet, looks to be similar to a Xbox or PlayStation account. Hopefully this means the death of Friend Codes, but with Nintendo you never know if they will keep those around.

So, what do you think? Will you give Miitomo a try when it comes our? Let me know!
